As we announced earlier in the season, Complete Comfort asked the metro area to nominate a family in need of a new furnace for the winter. After getting 16 heartfelt and moving nominations from the loved ones of Todd and Jan, our company had chosen them as the winners! Hearing about their kindness and selflessness to others in the community moved us, and their reaction to winning this gift reflected that. Once we determined their entire system was in need of replacement and explained we would provide the full installation, Todd even offered to pay; to this we insisted that their consistent generosity to others made it a privilege to help their family in return.
Our team arrived early in the morning with a new Bryant furnace and air conditioner. While taking out old equipment and setting, hooking up and testing the new equipment is standard to our installation team, they had a sense of pride to be giving back in this unique way. Our install crew was able to set the new air conditioner 3 feet further from where the last one had set, allowing Todd to better maneuver his wheelchair into the back. Also, while inspecting the old furnace, we found it had some cracks in the heat exchanger. This is a safety issue as gases can leak through those cracks, thus making this furnace replacement all the more important to us.
When all was complete, Todd and Jan had a newly installed Bryant furnace and air conditioner that will heat and cool their home reliably and with better efficiency. The team here at Complete Comfort had a sense of pride and fulfillment in being able to make a positive impact in a family’s life after such a turbulent year. Our hope is that in providing a “hand-up” to this family that exemplifies light and compassion in our community, such gestures will be paid forward to others in need. Even in giving back, we can all learn from Todd and Jan’s example to continue to lift up our neighbors regardless of how we may benefit; After 2020 every little act of kindness helps!
Complete Comfort thanks everyone for their nominations and our community for the continued support.
